This is Me

If you're new to my colorful world of wanderlust, welcome!

I'm Kristina.

I haven't always been a photographer. My parents gifted me my first camera (my beloved Kodak) when I moved to Europe for my master's degree. Little did I know that looking through the lens would change the way I looked at...everything!

My approach to photography is a lot like my approach to writing. I never studied it, or emulated it, or actively engaged in a community of like-minded artists. It just surfaced like a spark in me I couldn't ignore. Over time, it became the companion that now knows my darkest doubts and most daring dreams. 

I photograph much of the same things I write about, too -- tiny moments, big feelings, and all the places that pull on our heartstrings, even if we've never been. 

I love color and sunshine, and can't live without either. I love to cook, to try new recipes, to forget them and to try them again for the second first time. I love how food and wine can make you breathe differently for a moment in time. I am a scientist by training; I study the brain but listen to the heart. I fill notebooks to the brim with no respect for lines or margins. I love to laugh, because fits of laughter are good for the soul, and for the abs. 

​I put my heart into everything I do. I don't always understand trends, or categories, or barriers, but am aware of what I love, what I don't, what I see through and what I hold true. I'm hoping that that's enough to earn my place in this world.

Veni Etiam is a Latin phrase that means "return". No place is ever the same - and neither are we - and that's the beauty of returning. It's my ode to all the places I've dropped an anchor, all the little fragments that make me whole.​
