I love to travel, to capture the look and feel of places, so that I may return to them at any moment. I love the simplicity of everyday life, the regularity of lines, the mystery of reflections, the wonder of colors, the perfection of flowers, the richness of markets, the balance of still-life, the power of the ocean, and the magic of changing light. I love the perfection and infiniteness of raindrops. I love city life, right down to its grungy graffitied side. I love the tranquility of landscapes, and how small, young and insignificant Nature often makes me feel. I love anything to do with maritime scenes. I love to capture fleeting moments, because it makes me feel like I can cheat Time once in a while. I love symmetry, asymmetry, motion and stillness. I love Venice -- I love Her most of all. Looking through my lens, I've learned that almost anything can be beautiful and worth pausing for. Photography is a form of collecting and storytelling that makes me feel alive and inspired. It makes me look. It makes me remember. It makes every day count.

See the world through Veni Etiam Photography

In a modern world of iPhones and Instagram, nearly everyone is a photographer. What matters is the essence of what is captured, what it means to the person behind the lens (any lens), and what it evokes to those who view it. Technique and composition play their part, and - when they are achieved successfully – a photograph has the powerful ability to transport, to tell a story and to trigger an emotive response in the viewer who has been lured into a new dimension.

The collection of photographs in my shop are a selection of those I have taken over time. These photographs document my days in places and moments – near and far, past and recent. But what I hope is that they may resonate with you and inspire you, too. Be it a place you love and miss, or a place you've never seen but which has been calling you, my wish is to make it tangible for you.

Some photographs have a painting-like feel. You may come to recognize a distinct style – the types of things that catch my eye, the patterns or colors that make me stop in my tracks, the kind of lighting or reflection that intrigues me. It's reassuring when you start to pick up on my habits – you'll know it's me! Some photographs depict a breathtaking destination or a unique architectural sight, while others capture what is extraordinary in the ordinary.

The photographs are artistic but genuine – loyal to the scene, as I saw it. I don't enjoy over-processing photos, unless the purpose is to achieve a specific visual effect or mood. But even then, it comes with the risk of distancing the viewer from the emotion in the scene. I hope the collection will appeal to people who appreciate beauty in all its simplicity, people who understand that art can be simple and genuine, but still make your heart beat a little faster.

Veni Etiam differs from stock-art photos you could download, or wall-art you can buy in mainstream stores. There is a continuity in the style, such that you could buy multiple pieces that evoke a similar feeling. There is a glorification of the ordinary, which is not always common in travel or street photography. There is a clear presence of Italy (bonus points if you are an italophile as I am). There is thought and feeling behind each and every photo, a story to be told. This is reflected in the fact that each of the hundreds of photographs has its own title, often in a language other than English, sometimes describing the place itself, and other times concealing an inspiring message for you. As a writer, I share some of these stories in blog posts or in the insert that accompanies your wall art when I send it to you. Veni Etiam is a genre and a feeling, with the purpose of bringing the beauty of the world to you, to uplift and inspire you, to enliven not only your space, but your heart.

Why the name "Veni Etiam" ?

'Veni Etiam' is a Latin phrase, meaning "come again". I chose this name as I have left many anchors in the world, and returning is an important part of me - for each time we return, we discover new hidden gems, new angles, new perspectives, and new beauty. No place is ever the same (and neither are we), and this is at once beautiful and tragic. 'Veni Etiam' is also a phrase used by 16th century Italian poet Luigi Grotto Cieco d'Adria to describe Venice and her effect on one's heart. As Venice is my deepest inspiration, this is my tribute to Her.

"Ecco la città che, a tutti, ispira lo stupore…chi la vede una volta se ne innamora per la vita e non la lascia mai più, o se la lascia è per ritrovarla. Di questo desiderio di ritornarci che pesa su tutti quelli che la lasciarono prese il nome di VENETIA, come a dire a quelli che la lasciano, in una dolce preghiera VENI ETIAM, torna di nuovo” ~Luigi Grotto Cieco d’Adria, Venice, 1570
