There is very little that is unique about that moment when you walk into Milano's great Galleria - dozens of others share the space with you in that moment, standing still or shuffling past, in every direction, and thousands will have cut through the space by the time the day is done. Yet, if you're lucky, you pause for a moment to acknowledge not only the beauty of what is over your head, but also that of what is under your feet. And you may find you are luckier still, if the heels of your shoes know this floor well, and have the luxury to glide over it again, and again.
