Etsy is an online marketplace where people around the world connect to buy and sell unique goods from independent entrepreneurs around the globe. Actually, it's more than a marketplace -- it's a community -- of makers and shoppers who are committed to the sustenance of original, high-quality creative goods that are made with love and can't easily be found anywhere else.

One wonderful community feature on Etsy is that sellers can belong to a team, either based on their craft or based on their region. Teams are a great way to connect with other shop-owners, to share resources and advice, or meet up to network and socialize. As Etsy sellers range from being hobbyists to established entrepreneurs who are able to focus on their Etsy business as their sole occupation, there are always plenty of tips and tricks of the trade to share and new features to learn about.
When I first launched Veni Etiam Photography in 2015, I started with my website and online shop. Only a few months later, I was drawn into the world of orange! When I first opened my Etsy shop, I decided to sell "small" accessible items there (small fine-art or metal prints and magnets) and to focus on my larger wall-art on my main website. What attracted me most to Etsy was the simplicity of its online platform (it has been SO easy and so fun to create and maintain an Etsy shop!) as well as the sense of community that was immediately apparent to me and that I thoroughly enjoy to this day.

 | I joined the Etsy Montreal Team which has felt like a wonderful support system. Etsy Montreal is a regional team made up of Etsy shop owners in and around the Montreal area, for the purpose of connecting Montreal sellers and promoting buying local, both online and offline. The team frequently organizes DIY workshops, meet-ups and shows to bring Etsy sellers and shoppers together in the city. It was through the Montreal team that I started to apply for and participate in bi-annual fairs, which played a huge part in making my name known in and around Montreal. |

In the spring of 2015, I started to volunteer my help to the leadership team members, feeling truly inspired and empowered by their resourcefulness, strength of character and selfless community service. I am thrilled to now be part of the leadership team, although I am by far the newbie of the bunch and have lots and lots to learn from them!

Now comes an important announcement!
The next Etsy market in Montreal will take place in less than TWO weeks, on the weekend of September 24-25th. The event is called Etsy Fait au Québec Montreal and is a nation-wide event simultaneously held in multiple Canadian cities. The Montreal show will take place at the Technopole Angus (details on flyer below). More than 75 local artisans will be present under one roof to sell their creations and there will be entertainment and workshops for the general public. This will be the third annual September market organized by the Etsy Montreal Team. Over the last three years, these events have consistently attracted over 7000 shoppers during a single weekend. Oh, and it's free!
